First Edit to "The Seawane Club" Article

For my first edit to this article I just gave a breif overview of the club. I actually just created this article so it is still in its infancy stage. Within the article I also gave the address of the club and some contact information in case people need to reach out to the club for any questions.

Edit #1 to "New York Mets" article

For my first posting on the New York Mets article, I clarified the section 1962-1968: Lovable losers because it wasn’t clear on how the Mets acquired Tom Seaver. Within the posting I just expanded on the origional content by specifying the process in a few sentences. The content I added is “Even though the Mets remained in last place, Tom Seaver was a sign of good fortune to come. He was originally signed by the Atlanta Braves in February 1966 out of the University of Southern California, but his contract was voided by Commissioner William D. Eckert on the basis that the USC season had already started when Seaver signed. In order to resolve this issue, the Mets, Indians, and Phillies were all placed in a hat since they were the only teams willing to match the Braves offer, and the Mets were fortunate enough to win the drawing”.

Edit #1 to "New York Yankees" article

Since this was my first edit to any wikipedia article, i made it a fairly minor one. As every one knows, Babe Ruth is a well know character in New York Yankees history. So I decided to add a stat that exhibits his greatness as a yankee. Under the section " The Ruth and Gehrig era", I added "The Babe accumulated 2,213 RBIs over his career which ranks second in Major League History, and totaled 1,971 as a Yankee which is second best in the Yankees team history" in the second paragraph.

Reaction #1 to required Blog List

From Slashdot, there was an interesting article that addressed the issue of funding for Wikipedia and its current revenue generating method. Many fear that without utilizing ads to bring in revenue, Wikipedia will not be sustainable over the long run. I thought that this was an interesting article because it is very relevant to our class and is a sensitive topic that has divided many. I do understand why many would be opposed to using ads, because Wikipedia is running great and we should definitely try not to fix something that isn’t broken; but I am not sure if it can remain sustainable solely on donations. Even though some revenue structure should be devised, I definitely agree with the positing that ads should be avoided at all costs. Corporate influence can create biases in a lot of the information and can potentially take away the communities objective stance. This is apparent in many of other media such as newspapers and magazines. Even though I feel some solution should be worked out in the near future, I agree that Wikipedia doesn’t have any shot at closing down. It has developed into to great a tool and I feel the community would not let that happen.

Introductory Post#2 Due Feb 19

I feel that the major purpose of our individual blogs is to familiarize ourselves with this new multimedia technology that is becoming integrated within the marketing function of many firms. Through this medium, individuals around the world now have the ability to interact with one another more freely. This is significant for corporations since it can be considered a cheap source of advertising and promotion. Companies can maintain their own blogs in order to make their activities more transparent, and can also gauge consumer perceptions more accurately and cost effectively by tuning into consumers feelings. By maintaining our own individual blogs, we will become more familiar with this communication medium that should be significant in our futures.
