Edit #2 to "New York Mets" wikipedia article

For my second edit to the New York Mets article, I added a statistic that Al Leiter become the first major league pitcher to defeat all 30 teams in the major leagues. This was accomplished in the Mets 2002 season. I added this statistic becuase it was one of the few bright spots for the mets during that season and shows how talented AL leiter is as a pitcher eventhough this was at the end of his career. The change was made under the section "1996-2004: Piazza, Bobby V, and the Subway Series"

Unexpected Deletion of Wiki articel "The Seawane Club"

For one of my four blogs, I decided to create a blog about a local country club called The Seawane club. Unfortunately a few days ago I went back onto wikipedia to see how the article was devloping and found that the article had been deleted. I am not sure exactly why it had been deleted because I kept the information very neutral and objective. The message that Wikipedia had provided didnt give a clear explanation as to why it was deleted. Per my blog post on febuary 23, you can see that I only listed general contact information about the club, and various services the club offers. Within the near future I am going to re-establish the article and see how the wikipedia community reacts.

Edit #2 to "New York Yankees" wikipedia article

For my second edit to the wikipedia Article "New York Yankees", i added a sentenced that describes one of the many bright spots of the New York Yankees 2002 season. I added that Roger Clemens achieved his 300 win and 4000 strikeout in the same game. This addition was made under the section labled "21 Century". These are very important achievements for Roger and will definitely allow him to be a shoe-in into the hall of fame.

Reaction #2 to required Blog List

From Slashdot, that was an interesting article that discusses the main reasons why Sony's Play Station Three console has not been performing well. A lot of people argue that the price is simply to high which detracts away many of the mild users who are just interested in game play. The price is currently around $600 which is not attractive to people who arent interested in the blue ray features and other memory advantages that are not extremely significant for less technical users. Even though the price is acting like a major deterent, I also feel that people are not investing big bucks into the video game console is due to the lack of games that Sony has released since its release. Playstation is not making the gaming expereince as attractive as the other competitors that are blowing the market away with new games such as X-box 360 and the new Nintendo WII. I feel Sony Playstation has to address these two issues if they would like to get back into the black with the PS3.

Post # 2 on class material

In response to our Skype conference call with Toby on Monday March 5, I thought it was interesting how she discussed the positive effects internet media can have on people who actively publish content on the web. This has become very popular as millions of people are posting videos and clips of themselves on servers such as YouTube and Rever. The specific example she highlighted was the two guys who published the video on Rever illustrating the effect of mixing Mentos candy and Coke. This obviously generated positive results for the two because Coke and Mentos liked the idea and was constructive for the two companies marketing campaigns in the future. One thing that Toby failed to mention though are the negative effects that people can experience by contributing to these sites. You obviously have to be careful with the material you post as well. Many people post material they may be inappropriate in the eyes of others and can negatively impact themselves. This doesn’t only apply to Youtube and Rever, but to other social media sites such as Facebook and Myspace. Many employers are searching these types of sites and you must consider all future implications when exposing yourself on the web.

In regard to jess's post about The Search and the issue of privacy, I was also unaware that you can pin point the location of someones home by simply typing in their phone number. Even though I was unaware of this, I am definitely not surpirsed. There is so much information that is accumulating on the web, this seems trivial now in comparison to what personal information can posibly exist on the web in the future. It is definitely a scary thought of what google may publish about you in the future for all to see. Jess's post in which I am commenting on can be found on her blog.

Post # 1 on class material

In response to the topic of Law, Privacy and Security issues on the internet, (discussed, in class 2/28/07) I never truly understood the negative effects that online gambling could have on the country. It is now apparent that online gambling can be an easy vehicle to promote money laundering, and even the transfer of money for illegal activities such as drugs and for terrorism. According to the notes the US is trying to crack down on this issue since security has become a major issue within the US today. The reason I am commenting about this topic on my blog is because I have experienced first hand the tighter restrictions that are being applied to online gambling in the US. When I used to play online poker, I began to receive resistance from my local bank when I tried to electronically transfer funds from my account to the website. They put a block on the transaction and did not let it process over the internet. I had to personally call and follow up over the phone to perform the transaction.
